Land Rover Series 3 88
A4 Giclée Print

SKU: Land-Rover-Ser3 Category: Tag:

This illustration is of a Series Three Land Rover 88. The Land Rover was produced by the Rover Company from 1947 to 1985. Remaining in production its success was in part to the requirements, in the aftermath of World War Two, to use the minimum of materials that were rationed at the time.

The idea of Maurice Wilks, Rover’s chief designer, was for a light utility vehicle a concept similar to the Willys Jeep used by American troops. The emphasis for the Land Rover was to be on agricultural use. The original intention was to build the Land Rover two or three years, it lasted 38. This was to produce cash flow to restart the Rover up-market car production which has stopped during the war.
